Jazz music was the soundtrack of the period of American history affectionally known as the great orgy. This, of course, is more commonly referred to as the roaring 20s or just the 1920s. This period was, up until that point, the most prosperous time in American history. The rich were extravagantly rich and they were extravagantly bored. This boredom was filled with outrageous parties with blasting jazz music and going out on the town to see a movie. The first of these films with sound was 1927′s The Jazz Singer. The musical starring Al Jolson featured six performed songs and set the course for future American popular entertainment.
Even today, in our modern era of film, jazz still has its own specific role. There is a fantastical, care-free element to this wild brand of blaring music. Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz’s break-out film The Mask features a classic jazz styled track in the dance scene between the two leads. Crown Royal Revue’s “Hey, Pachuco” is fashioned in the style of Benny Goodman’s “Sing, Sing, Sing” and perfectly accentuates the insanity of that scene and Carrey’s character.
Jazzy movie scores play over plenty of the best animated films. Score for film’s like The Incredibles and The Adventures of Tin-tin all feature big band jazz stylings. This genre of music is powerfully influentially in all of the movies it is used in.

Movies take us away and some present “love stories” that we want to see. Remember Scarlett O”Hara and Rhett Butler, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall? These and many other love stories take our breath away and we enjoy watching over and over. Some movie love affairs are based on real life and there are those that come to life when the actors portray them on the big screen even thought they are fiction.
There are classics throughout movie history that keep up coming back again and again to relive their stories. Maybe you have a favorite (or two) movie love affairs that capture your attention and draws you in each time you watch the movies. With the many movies over the years we all enjoy revisiting old friends as well as new.
Blue Lagoon was a different type of love affair because it showed two young people relying on each other for their daily lives. It was a simple yet touching movie and showed the innocence of these two young “lovers” as they discover each other along the way.
Movie love affairs stand the test of time and we want to see the characters live happily ever after every time.

Ben Hur: The original Roman chase film, Ben Hur is a classic in many ways. It had direction far beyond its time and sets that would put a modern set designer to shame. If you liked 300 or Gladiator, you’ll love this movie.
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest: The old school psych flick tests the boundaries of what’s normal and what’s not. It’s got classic acting performances by some of history’s biggest names and it deservedly won many Oscars.
Citizen Kane: It’s experienced a resurgence in the last couple of years and for good reason – this political docu-drama still makes a statement in today’s economic climate and it’s a great piece to watch with your teens so you can talk about the state of affairs in the world when it’s done.

Cinema prices these days are outrageous! I can remember back when movies were very cheap to watch and not to mention worthy of ones time. Now these days movies are priced at extremely high sums that are bound to break ones wallet or purse. What ever happened to movies being cheap and affordable instead of costing movie goers an arm and a leg? I remember when an entire family could go to the movies with a mere thirty dollars; twenty for the family and ten for any drinks and condiments. Now it seems that the bank has to be broken in order for any one to have a good time at the movies. The whole story can be found at http://popspoken.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/johnny-depp-signs-on-to-5th-pirates-movie-has-earned-us350m-from-franchise/

In fact, some of the movies these days are not even worth the ten dollars or so going to the movies! Most movies are either rehashed remakes of great movies or unoriginal films unworthy of anyone’s attention. How can film makers cope with the insanely movie prices for films that are no longer deemed entertaining? I do not have an answer to that. What I can say is that unless Hollywood decides to get its act together, we movie goers will not stand for this pricey insanity

This is an interesting question. If you watch a lot of movies, then you already know the answer. Well, let’s rephrase that. If you watch a lot of random movies, then you strongly feel that too many movies are being made.

Back in the day when video stores were all the rage, you could go in there and pick all kinds of movies based on enticing covers and blurbs. Unfortunately, this often led to bad experiences, which in turn led to the belief that most movies are poor. If you take every movie ever made, most of them are poor, which would mean that too many movies are being made. However, there is a way around this.

In order to stop wasting money and time when watching movies, research the best 1000 movies ever made. After you have your list, cross out the ones you have seen. After you watch one, put a line through it. This will allow you to see all the best movies ever made, which most people have never done. When it comes to old movies, don’t be fearful. Keep in mind that old movies people still talk about are classics for a reason – they’re great. Some of the best acting performances of all time took place many decades ago.

In conclusion, there are too many movies being made, but it’s possible to avoid the movie trap and only watch the best of the best.

With the recent increase in services that bring the movies straight into our homes, it brings up the question: is the cinema going to stick around?

Definitely.

If we take a look back through the decades we will see a trend that has kept our cinemas up and running: adaptability and ingenuity. The cinema has survived numerous advancements: from color to the release of DVD’s. Like Hollywood, the cinemas keep finding ways to keep us coming back for more, whether it is the improved facilities or the allure of movies in 3D.

Also the cinemas are still entwined with the essence of Hollywood”the closest most of us will ever get to that glitz and glamour. Really, as audiences, we have come to think of the cinema as our personal part of Hollywood. If we can’t have the red carpet, the sets, or the movie stars, then we can enjoy its exciting product on a huge screen with surround sound. Add in the munchies and the friends and you have a night. All of this in combination”that piece of Hollywood glitter and our own audience touches”let’s face it, who doesn’t love going to the cinema?

So rest assured folks, as long as there is a Hollywood there will be a cinema.Keep looking, there’s more: Cityville Hollywood Bella Bennett Movie Star Goals, Complete the Cinema Tour Goal

Space movies have amazed us and made us laugh. Some of the most significant advances in movie-making technology have been developed for space movies. The top 10 space movies of all time offer us a sense of adventure and fantasy that few other movies can touch.

10) “Star Trek” (2009) – This re-boot of the popular space series is rapidly being considered one of the best space movies ever made. The visual effects are incredible and the acting is top notch.
9) “Alien” (1979) – When we finally find life on other planets, it wants to harvest us as hosts for its offspring. You can find a quick rundown here “Aliens” was one of the first space movies to combine terror with impressive space images.
8)”Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi” (1983). There are other “Star Wars” movies that appear later in this list, but this one is significant for the number of daytime special effects that it pioneered.
7)”2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968) – The use of space as a character in this movie was brilliant. The ending is a bit odd, but it creates the feeling that the audience is caught in the same situations as the main characters.
6)”Star Trek: The Motion Picture”(1979) – Space movie fans had wondered what the cast of the original “Star Trek” television series could do with a real budget and a full-length motion picture time frame. The results are one of the best space movies ever made.
5) “Avatar” (2009) – “Avatar” was so many things to so many people that it could fit into several lists.
